What EIFS can change in a wall assembly

EIFS places insulation on the exterior side of the wall, creating a more continuous thermal layer than cavity insulation alone. That can reduce heat flow through framing and other thermal bridges. The practical benefit is not a guaranteed percentage reduction in utility bills; it is a better-performing exterior insulation layer whose result depends on the existing wall, insulation level, air leakage, windows, HVAC system, building size, and how the new assembly is detailed.
